According to Centre of Disease Control and Prevention in United States, cigarette smoking has been termed as the single most cause of death in developed countries that can be prevented beforehand. About smoking, it states:

“The single most important preventable risk to human health in developed countries and an important cause of premature death worldwide.”

Smoking can kill as it contains harmful substances that are hazardous to health and cause instant metaplasia of the respiratory tract of the body. The linings of the nasal mucosa, pharynx, trachea, bronchi and the lungs are affected and the normal environment of these tracts change variably.

It is a social evil of society as people indulge in it from early age. Early age smoking is more hazardous. It causes sure death.

Smoking causes worldwide innumerable deaths. These deaths can be prevented as stated by the researches. An estimated 6 million people die due to rash use of tobacco. Tobacco killings have taken about millions of life in the 20th century.
