Most of us already have some hobbies that ultimately become the most important part of our lives and give us the real pleasure. But do you even know that our hobbies can have a great impact on our mental and physical condition as well?

WHY HOBBIES ?

Hobbies make us use our leisure time in one of the most productive ways. Moreover, they reflect a part of our personality depending upon the type of hobby we choose for ourselves. These are the very interests that we choose to pursue in our lives when we are not sleeping, working or spending time with our loved ones. You can say they give us an extra motive in our lives.

Most of us take hobbies as a fun part of their lives and they really enjoy doing what they like the most. But, soon you will find out that there is something wondrous hidden in your fun activities than only giving pleasure to your mind and body.

Here are five hobbies enlisted that are known to be a health booster for those who really enjoy doing them:

Dancing with your Partner:

Dancing is a wide term that is also an easy and fun form of exercise and has a whole range of health benefits. you may find doing exercise boring or some heavy workout but when it comes to dancing it requires no equipment’s, only your feet, some music and maybe a partner.

Also, it is the form of hobby that most of us already know how to do and really takes pleasure in it especially when it comes to some wedding or girls party. You can either be smooth in your moves or push yourself as hard as you want. Yes, anyone of us can dance.

It is only the rhythm of the good music that moves your body automatically. There is no way right or wrong when it comes to dancing, only you need to follow the beats or move your body with the beats. If you feel shy in front of someone you can at first practice in the comfort zone of your house. But it really feels good to have one or two friends with you who are not going to judge you for any of your moves.

Dancing is also one of the top social activities and if you want to keep yourself socially active, dancing is a good idea. It is the most gentle and smooth form of exercise that keeps you going with the flow. But how actually does it bring us health benefits?

This is because dancing is an excellent cardio workout and anyone doing it actually improves his cardiovascular health, increases stamina and strengthening his bones and muscles.

A 2011 Cochrane Review that examined 94 studies involving 9,917 participants found that dancing at least three times per week improves the balance in elderly. This is very important as according to a report from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), every year 2.8 million people are treated in emergency departments for fall injuries.

So, if an exercise as simple as dancing, that already a lot of people among us love, prevents fall injuries then why not one should practice it especially in his old age.

Dancing is also good for our brain health. A study in the New England Journal of Medicine reported an association between dancing and a 76 percent decrease in dementia risks.

Gardening:

It may not seem to you some kind of exercise but reports have suggested that dozens of unhealthy health benefits come up your way through gardening and keeping your lawn in order.

Firstly, pulling out the weeds and reaching to various tools needed for gardening is a simple form of aerobic exercise, which we already know strengthens our muscles, boosts strength, stamina, and flexibility in our body.

Being outdoors is another factor that let you inhale some fresh air and is good for your mind and body. a 2014 study published in PLOS One found that gardening and cycling reduces the risks of Vitamin D deficiency in elderly people. Also, there is decreased dementia risks with gardening.

Another 2013 study, conducted by the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, reported that gardening and DIY were linked to a reduction in the risks of heart problems and stroke in up to 30 percent of the people.

You might think how holding a pen or paper in your hands or sitting in front of the desk can be good for you, right?

But to your knowledge writing has been associated with lots of mental and physical health benefits, including improvements in memory, stress level, sleep and other things as well.

Especially in the patients with cancer, it is seen that writing about their illness and its terms help them withstand the stress and potentially contribute to improving their physical outcomes.

Writing is a great tool of self-expression and today when most of us lack some true and real friends, writing to yourself can do a great job in healing your wounds. There are also public social benefits that come up with writing. Blogging, for example, can help you gather people of your interests and helps you build a strong community of some social welfare.

  • Feelings of being lonely

All of these factors ultimately reduce the chances of having a heart attack. Among all sorts of pet ownership, dog ownership is particularly associated with lowering the risks of heart diseases.
