World Health Organization has warned that the pandemic of COVID-19 is “accelerating” at a much higher speed, with more than 300,000 cases confirmed to date.

In numbers, it took 67 days from the appearance of the first case to reach 100,000 cases.
It took 11 days for COVID-19 to reach the second 100,000, and the last 100,000 took only four days.

Director-General of W.H.O Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyseus said: “It is still possible to change the trajectory.”
The Director urged nations to adapt to rigorous testing and improve contact-tracing strategies to fight the pandemic.

Dr. Tedros said it is of utmost importance to ask people to stay home and follow other social-physical distancing measures. It is the only way to reduce the spread of the Virus. He also describes these as defensive measures that will slow down the spread but will not help us win against the Virus.

“To win, we need to attack the virus with aggressive and targeted tactics”. We need to test every suspected case and isolate them. We need to care for every confirmed case and chase and quarantine every close contact of the infected ones.
