UTI is defined as an infection in the urinary system. This could be your kidneys, ureters, bladders or urethra. Women have more chances of getting these infections than men. It may cause some complications such as sepsis, recurring infections, and acute kidney infection. It can also cause kidney stones, a suppressed immune system, urinary surgery procedure etc.
We all get sick from time to time. Sickness means your body is going through any situation that is not right. But, sometimes you experience the symptoms that you do not know the reason. For this, you might consult the doctor.
Here are some of the symptoms you should not ignore
1: Abdominal Pain:
When bacteria are transferred from the rectum to the urinary bladder through the urethra, it may result in pain in the abdomen. Some bacteria which are common in UTIs may act worse due to a weak immune system. This may trigger the pain in the abdomen. If you observe aching, you may seek medical advice.
Sometimes the immune system responds to urinary infections. If this happens, then when the immune system gets back to work, it kicks to overdrive which drives a lot of energy which causes exhaustion.
The only way to get rid of it is proper treatment.
3: Frequent Urination:
The presence of the infection affects your urinary tract that leads to frequent urination. But it is not more in quantity. You may notice that it smells a bit weird. This is due to the presence of bacteria in urine due to which your urine smells strange.
4: Discoloration of Urine:
Normally. The urine is in color light yellow or yellowish brown. The color of urine depends upon your hydration levels. When there is some kind of infection in your urine, the color of urine changes. It may become cloudy, grey or pinkish. Presence of blood in urine is something serious. You should consult your doctor to seek his advice.
5: Pain while urinating:
The development of white blood cells in urinary bladder causes inflammation. On the other hands, the urine is also infected by bacteria. The combined effect of both causes cramping and aching in the urinary system. If aching and cramping are more, it is advisable to consult a doctor as it could be a dangerous one.
6: Flu-like symptoms in the stomach:
Except for pain in your abdomen, you may experience pain in your stomach. If the treatment is delayed, the pain may spread to the kidneys. The symptoms may be a pain in backbone, nausea, chills, fever etc.if you have a pelvic discomfort or pain while urinating then it is wise to consult a doctor.
As it is said that prevention is the best medicine. Some of the preventions are here:
- Drink plenty of water
- Try some cranberry juice
- Try to avoid feminine products with fragrances
- Urinate after intercourse if necessary
You may be prescribed antibiotics. If the effects are higher, then you might be prescribed stronger antibiotics. For pain relief, you might be prescribed painkillers.
