Learning to love yourself is easier than you think

Everyone around the world is united by only one desire — we all want to love and to be loved. But in order to achieve this, first of all we have start to loving ourselves.

Take a deep breath, and from today start learning the lessons from the following 30 points — if you want to find an inner sense of balance and well-being, this is all you need.

  1. Stop comparing yourself to others. People achieve success in different ways.
  2. You’re not as fat as you think.
  3. Physical exercise is useful not only for your appearance but also for your soul. We need to love our bodies no matter how they look.
  4. It’s important to find an activity that you can do perfectly. Maybe you get on great with children and you would like to work with them, but you don’t know about that you’d make an excellent teacher because you’ve never tried your hand at it.
  5. Spend more time with your friends. They should be more important than any partner. Relationships come and go, but friends are forever — and you need to stay in touch with them as often as possible.
  6. Find time for yourself. It’s completely normal if you want to stay at home on Friday night, just watch a movie and munch on some popcorn. This week was tough, and you work hard.
  7. How long have you wanted to read that interesting book, but have yet to find time? Just open it, and start reading! Reading expands the imagination and sharpens the mind.
  8. Spend time outside. Explore new streets and footpaths. Walking is healthy. Do it more often, preferably in good company. If you have a choice between driving and walking, choose the latter.
  9. Take a lot of photos. And if possible, print the best ones and those which are most dear to you. In a couple of years, you will understand their inestimable value.
  10. If somebody hurts you, let them go. Let them be a person only from the past rather than a focus of the present. Sometimes, we just need to move on. If they make you angry, they’re just going to keep on hurting you. It’s not worth spending your time with people who bring you pain.
  11. Reconnect with old friends. Write to your classmates. And don’t be sad if you moved away from each other. Make new friends where you are. In time, people grow apart, and it’s a normal thing.
  12. Call your friends and family more often. Your connections through social networks are not enough. There was a time when we had no social networks, and everyone talked face to face. Remember that time? It was great.
  13. Tell those who are close to you how much you love them. When they’re gone, you will think about them every day and regret that you spent less time together than you could have. So, maybe it’s time to start right now?
  14. In order to be healthy, you need to take extra vitamins.
  15. You need to indulge yourself, but know when to stop. Maybe you’ve dreamt about doing some thing for many years, but you could never begrudge the money. But who else is going to spend money on you, if not you yourself? Simply save up, and enjoy yourself.
  16. Take care of yourself. Your mood will depend on your appearence. You shouldn’t wear tracksuit pants or permanently set your hair in a bun. It may sound like a cliche, but when you look good, you feel good.
  17. Write down the titles of the movies you want to watch.
  18. Be active. It’s guaranteed to help you to feel better — physically and emotionally.
  19. Find the right hobby for you. You’ll be able to enjoy your free time and in turn benefit in a whole lot of ways you couldn’t even imagine. Perhaps, an ordinary hobby will lead to something more, and change the direction of your life.
  20. Save up some money for travelling. Life is short and you need to have time to see the world. There are so many interesting things out there — go see them!
  21. Learn to laugh at yourself. If you stumble — either physically or metaphorically — don’t worry, just make a joke out of it.
  22. Sing. Go to a karaoke bar, but only when you’re sober. It will make you feel elated. Just try, and you’ll understand.
  23. Eat less junk food. If you knew of what they actually make these products from, and how they make them, you would never touch plenty of junk food items ever again.
  24. Dance. Dance with your friends. Don’t think about whether you look dumb or not. Just have fun, and dance for yourself.
  25. Smile more often. The more you smile, the happier you are. This makes other people happier too.
  26. Do good things for other people, and do them without any expectation that they have to answer in the same way.
  27. Open your heart to people. However, be careful not to let anyone use you.
  28. Don’t be so biased. Everything’s relative in this world.
  29. Look up at the sky. You will see that each and every sunset is magnificent. And then look at the stars, which are even more incredible.
  30. Remember that you will never find favour in the eyes of everyone. In this life, not everyone is going to like you. You have to try to understand that, and accept it. Love yourself. Remember the words of Buddha: ’You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.’
